Russell Kerr

Mr. Kerr began his legal career with a highly regarded insurance defense firm located in Rockville, Maryland, a suburb of the Washington DC Metro Area, where he defended auto negligence cases and workers – compensation cases and also prosecuted damage to underground facilities for a large Mid Atlantic utility. Upon moving to Florida Mr. Kerr expanded his areas of practice to include corporate, real estate and immigration matters.

While practicing law here in South Florida, Mr. Kerr played a significant role in the development of a 25 MW biomass facility located in the Greater Toronto Area, which achieved commercial operation in June, 2015.

Mr. Kerr earned his undergraduate degree from the Franciscan University of Steubenville and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore School of Law. Mr. Kerr is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Florida, Maryland Court of Appeals and the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. Mr. Kerr is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

Gregory Sussman began his legal career starting his own practice handling domestic relations and juvenile matters and taking on pro bono work for the Court Appointed Special Advocate in Akron, Ohio. Upon moving to Florida, Mr. Sussman handled juvenile dependency cases, working as a Best Interest Attorney Guardian ad Litem program for the 19th Judicial Circuit. Mr. Sussman started at Russell Kerr P.A. in February of 2020 has handled civil litigation as well as business and real estate transactions.

Nadine Macon is an accomplished attorney with extensive experience in real estate, business law, and complex civil litigation. She represents individuals, investors, entrepreneurs, and closely held businesses in transactional matters and high-stakes disputes, delivering practical legal solutions grounded in both courtroom experience and executive-level business judgment.

Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Macon served as an Assistant State Attorney for the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit of Florida, where she prosecuted a wide range of criminal matters and developed a strong foundation in trial advocacy, evidentiary strategy, and case management.

Ms. Macon has built a robust civil practice handling commercial litigation, real estate disputes, contract enforcement, fiduciary matters, and business conflicts at both the trial and appellate levels. Her litigation approach emphasizes efficiency, strategic leverage, and outcome-driven resolution.

For more than a decade, Ms. Macon served as General Counsel for a privately held real estate investment and development company with domestic and international operations. In that role, she was responsible for drafting and negotiating the company’s full range of transactional documents and complex commercial contracts. She advised on acquisitions, asset management, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, development projects, and enterprise risk management across a diverse investment portfolio. This hands-on transactional leadership allows her to deliver highly practical, deal-driven legal solutions for clients.

Ms. Macon earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Florida State University College of Law, Class of 2003. She is licensed to practice law in Florida state and federal courts.

Tonya L. VanDenHeuvel is Of Counsel with Russell Kerr, P.A., where she represents clients in estate planning, probate administration, real estate matters, immigration matters, and issues affecting closely held businesses. Her practice is informed by a strong background in accounting and corporate finance, allowing her to address legal matters with an understanding of related tax and financial considerations.

Prior to practicing law, Ms. VanDenHeuvel held executive-level accounting and finance roles with complex, multi-entity and international organizations. In these positions, she was responsible for financial oversight, reporting, and compliance functions supporting business operations and strategic decision-making. She is currently pursuing CPA licensure in Florida. 

Ms. VanDenHeuvel holds a Master’s degree in Accounting, a Juris Doctor with an emphasis in Tax and Banking Law, and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. She is admitted to The Florida Bar and is a member of the Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section and the International Law Section.
